About Life's Journey Mentoring Program

Life's Journey Mentoring program is creatively designed to promote: promises, community education, dreams, and hopes for the youth of Duquesne.

The residents of Duquesne have developed an exciting program to encourage the youth in Duquesne to excel and seek higher achievement. Life's Journey Mentoring Program provides educational workshops, college prep resources, enriching field trips, college tours, networking opportunities, leadership development opportunities, volunteer services (Community Food Bank, City Annual Community Trash Bashing, Community Initiative Programs, Sycamore Nursing Home and H2O for Life Walk for Water) as well as access to a personal mentor.

The program is multifaceted, comprehensive and promising. The neighborhood has a tremendous need for positive role-models and college prep resources. Life's Journey mentoring Program has identified an overwhelming need to cultivate the futures of our youth.

Life's Journey Mentoring Program will help prepare "mentees" for college. We anticipate that all of the youth attending this program will decide to further their education.

Our program opens its doors on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Duquesne Family Support Center, One Library Place, Duquesne, PA 15110.

The year long program consists of meetings and workshops every 1st and 2nd Saturday from 10:00 am until noon. In addition, there are scheduled field trips and volunteer services throughout the year.

Who is Eligible?

All students who will be in grades 8-12 during the current school year are eligible to participate in Life's Journey Mentoring Program.

Purpose

The purpose of Life's Journey mentoring program is to encourage each student to further their education.

We mentor each student from the beginning of their 8th grade year to their first year of college or trade school.

We work closely with each student and family providing all encessary information to help the community to strive for excellence in education.
